Barbara Kingsolver and her family lived as locavores for one year. Better for health, better for the planet, not to mention better taste. Read about it in her book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. It will have you craving summer heirloom tomatoes and planning your summer garden patch.

Well, I've never heard of a "locavore" before, but I suppose it means someone who only eats local produce ?
She has a gorgeous garden and eats lots of veggies, but she also raised hens for meat and eggs. Her family ate plenty of meat - they just made certain it was local, natural, and free range.
